Chiesi has been committed to the difficult fight against climate change for a long time and the Group has recently set itself the goal of becoming Carbon Neutral by 2035 in time for the company’s 100th anniversary. It’s a challenging goal and yet one to which the Group is fiercely committed.
The plan is to reach this goal in two phases, the first of which is to ensure carbon neutrality in terms of emissions deriving from energy consumption at our many sites, fuel for the entire car fleet and propellant from all of our production sites.
Each country affiliate is collecting and sharing its emissions data in order for the Group to analyse and assess the CO2 equivalence.
The second phase involves achieving carbon neutrality for all relevant indirect emissions, such as those from business travel, the logistics chain, and the use and disposal of Chiesi products.
A number of planned initiatives, many of which directly involve all employees,
will make a major contribution to being Carbon Neutral by 2035 such as;
The Better Building Project
Measuring sustainability of all production and office sites along with mapping performance improvement
in areas such as energy consumption, water use and waste recycling.
Human Transportation Policy
Ensuring reduced emissions from mobility, focusing on business travel, commuting and the car fleet.
Market introduction of minimal carbon spray inhalers
Sustainability and the aim of being Carbon Neutral by 2035 are not simply words used by Chiesi management to pay lip service to the ever-increasing environmental awareness in the UK but concrete goals that are shared amongst all employees within the Chiesi Group.
Colleague networks and task forces are in place across the Chiesi Group to ensure the sharing of best practice and collaboration to achieve the goal of Carbon Neutrality.
